Summer's here, two months early. It looks like Mother Nature has decided to skip Spring and launch straight into Summer. So, fire up that barbie, pull up a comfy recliner and get those garden games out.

So, whether you're an existing client, or have expressed an interest in the iD-points incentive system, we hope you find this e-mail useful and informative.

/01. iD-points text messaging launches.

The iD-points SMS text messaging system is now ready to go.

We will be rolling out the new service on an account-by-account basis. We will be contacting Supervisors over the coming weeks, guiding them through the service, and asking them to notify their End Users that they can sign up for text updates.

For an End User, signing up for the SMS service is simply a case of going to My Account, clicking on Account Details, and entering their mobile number. This will then send a verification code to the phone, which is then entered online. This ensures that the mobile number is correct, and activates the text messaging service.

Texts are currently being sent for point credits only - though different alerts will be added. While there is no charge from us for sending SMS text alerts, End Users should be aware that they may be charged by their mobile operator.

Users can elect to stop receiving messages at any time, simply by removing their mobile number.

Users will continue to receive e-mail notifications - the SMS service is designed to supplement the e-mail service, not replace it.

/02. Announcing the IncentiveDirect blog.

IncentiveDirect has started a blog.

We will be posting on a wide range of subjects to do with motivation and incentives, including industry news, opinions, the science and psychology of motivation, strategy and tactics of incentive campaigns. Plus we'll also be taking a wider look at related areas such as virtual currencies, eBusiness and emerging technologies. We can't promise there won't be any pitches for IncentiveDirect products and services, but we'll keep these to a minimum.

As a blog, we need your feedback, comments and opinions too. Hopefully the blog can build into an exciting forum for discussion of motivation and incentives.

/04. IncentiveDirect at the VA conference.

Last month, IncentiveDirect's Jonathan Lee gave a short presentation at the VA conference.

Called Motivation 2012, the idea was to take a five year view of where the incentives and motivation sector may be by the time of the London Olympics.

Our conclusion: the future of incentives is connected and mobile.
